For over a year we have been discussing the addition of an Online Class Directory for our website. We posted a thread in the Forum and asked for feedback on the idea. In summary, the directory had to provide the following:

• Be voluntary
• Allow each user to submit, edit and maintain their own information
• Do not require that all the fields contain data
• Be secure and only available to registered users of our website
• Provide a picture as an option
• The database needs to be searchable

GreenvilleHigh1966.com has added a new Online Class Directory. Our new Directory provides everything that was requested by our users, plus more. This is a completely different database from the Subscription database or Judy's famous Excel spreadsheet. This database is for our users/classmates and each of us has control of what is seen by our registered users. For example, if you do not want to list your Cell Phone number, then leave that field blank. The only field that has to be filled in is Name, naturally. ALL other fields are optional. If you leave them blank, that information will be automatically omitted from your entry.

To add a listing entry in our Online Class Directory follow these steps:

1. Click on Directory in the Top Menu or the Users Menu
2. Click on Add Entry to create a new listing in the database
3. Fill in the boxes that apply to your listing entry; the blue question marks provide more instructions next the the fields
4. Upload a picture if you want
5. When you have completed filling in your entry, click Send at the bottom of the screen

To edit or delete an existing entry:

1. Click on Directory in  the Top Menu or the Users Menu
2. Find your listing and click on Edit; click Delete to remove your listing
3. Make the necessary changes
4. When you have completed filling in your entry, click Send at the bottom of the screen

Internet Explorer 8 Users: If you have updated your web browser to the new Internet Explorer 8 from Microsoft, you may run into some problems with our website, as well as others. You will have to click the Compatibility button to the right of the address box at the top of the browser; it is the icon that looks like a broken box. You may also have to refresh the page by pressing the CTRL and F5 keys at the same time. You will know you have the Add Entry screen loaded in your browser when the Send and Cancel buttons show on the bottom of the screen. I for one find this a nuisance at the very least; Internet Explorer 8 is causing web developers fits right now. I have not seen any problems with Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox web browsers.
