We are happy to announce Gallery 2.0, the latest enhancement to the GreenvilleHigh1966.com website. While the original Gallery has served us well, it is time to modernize and try new things. Gallery 2.0 has many new features not available in the original Gallery: 

• Easy to view Slideshow or you can use Manual View to look at each picture at your own pace like the in the original Gallery
• Rate Your Favorite Pictures (one to five stars)
• Enter Comments about categories or pictures for all registered users to read
• View Statistics for each Category, including a Top Ten List of the most downloaded pictures in each Category
• Easy Upload of your Greenville High pictures to be included in our collection

Gallery 2.0 is much more interactive than the original Gallery which we hope our registered users will enjoy. We now have 292 pictures in Gallery 2.0 with more on the way. So visit GreenvilleHigh1966.com today and try out Gallery 2.0.
 

Here are a few instructions that may help get you started: 

• Log in to GreenvilleHigh1966.com and click on Gallery 2.0 in the User Menu
• Gallery 2.0 starts at the Category Page; click on the Category you want to view
• You will see Thumbnails of each picture enclosed in a box with three icons
  • Click on the Magnifying Glass icon to see Detail View of the picture
  • Click on the Down Arrow icon to Download the picture
  • Click on the Comment Bubble icon to enter a Comment about that picture
• Start Viewing a Category by clicking on a Thumbnail of any picture, like you did in the original Gallery
• There are four Navigation icons on the pop-up Viewer
  • To use Manual View to look at the pictures at your own pace, in the top left corner click on the right arrow to manually move to the next picture or click on the left arrow to move manually to the previous picture, much like the original Gallery
  • To start the Slideshow, click the arrow in the bottom left corner of the pop-up Viewer
  • To close the pop-up Viewer, click the X icon in the top right corner
• To Rate a Category, leave a Comment about a Category, view the Statistics and Top Ten List for a Category, or Upload pictures to be included in our collection, return to the Category Page and click on the Category you are interested in
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the appropriate tab for Rating, Comments, Statistics, or Upload 

We hope you will enjoy the new and improved Gallery 2.0. Your Webmaster has wanted to add this enhancement for a long time. Now management of the Gallery is much more efficient. Adding pictures and categories will take minutes, rather than hours. For over a year we have been discussing the addition of an Online Class Directory for our website. We posted a thread in the Forum and asked for feedback on the idea. In summary, the directory had to provide the following:

• Be voluntary
• Allow each user to submit, edit and maintain their own information
• Do not require that all the fields contain data
• Be secure and only available to registered users of our website
• Provide a picture as an option
• The database needs to be searchable

GreenvilleHigh1966.com has added a new Online Class Directory. Our new Directory provides everything that was requested by our users, plus more. This is a completely different database from the Subscription database or Judy's famous Excel spreadsheet. This database is for our users/classmates and each of us has control of what is seen by our registered users. For example, if you do not want to list your Cell Phone number, then leave that field blank. The only field that has to be filled in is Name, naturally. ALL other fields are optional. If you leave them blank, that information will be automatically omitted from your entry.

To add a listing entry in our Online Class Directory follow these steps:

1. Click on Directory in the Top Menu or the Users Menu
2. Click on Add Entry to create a new listing in the database
3. Fill in the boxes that apply to your listing entry; the blue question marks provide more instructions next the the fields
4. Upload a picture if you want
5. When you have completed filling in your entry, click Send at the bottom of the screen

To edit or delete an existing entry:

1. Click on Directory in  the Top Menu or the Users Menu
2. Find your listing and click on Edit; click Delete to remove your listing
3. Make the necessary changes
4. When you have completed filling in your entry, click Send at the bottom of the screen

Internet Explorer 8 Users: If you have updated your web browser to the new Internet Explorer 8 from Microsoft, you may run into some problems with our website, as well as others. You will have to click the Compatibility button to the right of the address box at the top of the browser; it is the icon that looks like a broken box. You may also have to refresh the page by pressing the CTRL and F5 keys at the same time. You will know you have the Add Entry screen loaded in your browser when the Send and Cancel buttons show on the bottom of the screen. I for one find this a nuisance at the very least; Internet Explorer 8 is causing web developers fits right now. I have not seen any problems with Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox web browsers.

Effective July 14, 2009, registered users who login to GreenvilleHigh1966.com will also be logged in to the Forum. When clicking on the "Log Out" button in the Forum, registered users will be returned to the front page of the main Web site and will remain logged in. Access to the Forum has been moved to the public front page for easier access.

Registered users can also login directly to the Forum by visiting http://greenvillehigh1966.com/forum. When registered users who login directly to the Forum click the "Log Out" button, they will be returned to the front page of the main Web site, but will no longer be logged in.

If you registered with GreenvilleHigh1966.com prior to July 2, 2009, your forum username and password is the same as your main Web site username and password.
